Bump tests and calibrations are important aspects of any gas detection program. While calibration gases are excellent for bumping and calibrating gas detectors, cal gas generators provide several key advantages, particularly for reactive gases.

The original AreaRAE made a good run. After its release in 2001, the wireless gas meter became a staple of fire departments and hazmat teams around the country. But it's time for a change.

Since calibration gases have a limited shelf life, they have to be replaced routinely. Some cylinders may be emptied and shipped back to the manufacturer to be reused, but the majority of cal cylinders need to be disposed of—or preferably—recycled.
