Tetrachloroethylene Detection Tubes (0.1 to 9ppm)

Gastec Detection Tube No. 133LL measures Tetrachloroethylene with a Range of 0.1 to 9.0 ppm.

  • Measuring Range:
    • 0.1 to 0.2 ppm
    • 0.2 to 3.0 ppm
    • 3.0 to 9.0 ppm
  • Number of pump strokes: 2, 1, 1/2
  • Correction Factor: 1/2, 1, 3
  • Sampling Time: 1.5 minutes per pump stroke
  • Detecting Limit: 0.05 ppm (2 pump strokes)
  • Changes from Yellow to Purple
  • Corrections for temperature & humidity: Temperature correction is necessary
  • 2 Year Shelf Life (in the refrigerator)
  • Reaction Principle:
    • Cl2C:CCl2 + PbO2 + H2SO4 → HCl
    • HCl + Base → Chloride
  • Relative Standard Deviation: 10% (for 0.2 to 1 ppm), 5% (for 1 to 3 ppm)
  • Store the tubes in the refrigerator to keep at 10ºC (50ºF) or below.

Possible coexisting substances and their interferences:

Substance Concentration Interference Changes color by itself to
Chlorine ≧ 1/2 + Purple
Hydrogen chloride ≧ 1/2 + Purple
1,2-Dichloroethylene + Purple
1,1,1-Trichloroethane ≦ 80 ppm No No (≦ 80 ppm)
Toluene, Xylene No No
This detector tube can also be used with the Gastec Water Pollutant Analysis Systems to measure tetrachloroethylene in the water. With these systems, samples are collected by using a syringe.

Other substance measurable with this detector tube:

Substance: Correction Factor: No. of Pump Strokes: Measuring Range:
Pentachloroethane 20 1 40 to 500 ppm
